Ask the Lord

05 September 2022

Do you believe in visions and dreams? The Lord promised that we would have them, but only for those who embrace His Covenant.

At any rate, all day Sunday I was followed around by a vision that kept intruding on my normal activities. It's the kind of thing where I know it's a vision, not just my imagination. I have a very strong imagination, but I can also tell the difference when it's something that isn't part of my own creativity.

Over the past few years, I've been warned that God was watching certain people. The outcomes of His wrath won't change in the main, but certain specific individuals had choices within His wrath. I really never knew who they were, but for His own inscrutable reasons, the Lord was letting them choose the kind of trouble they would see. It's not so different from God warning David that he must choose between three sorrows (1 Chronicles 21:9-12). In my visions, I'm pretty sure the figures involved were never close to Him as David was, but the idea that God sometimes sets up tests should not be news to anyone. Thus, I've had several visions where God was observing these faceless figures and waiting to see what brand of evil they would choose.

Well, in yesterday's vision, they have chosen. Those choices are now locked into place, and the Lord has released His angels to bear His wrath. For whatever reason, an awful lot was riding on these particular choices. And the upshot is that the chaos now begins.

Sure, you have today's holiday break. But behind the scenes, the slow rolling of this huge thing has begun. The Lord was telling me to brace myself. Be ready for some shocking things to happen. The choices those people made will affect me directly.

Go ahead and laugh. I can handle it. It's not as if what I'm suggesting is really all that new, and it's not news to folks who have been watching events in the world. This is simply how the Lord gets my attention on specific things that will affect me. My first reaction is to pray for those close to me. I'm praying that they won't be caught off guard, that all of us keep praying about things we need to let go because the Lord says they aren't required to serve Him.

So, part of this vision was a confirmation that my own recent choices to get rid of certain items in my life were good moves. I've lightened my load so I can respond quickly when He calls. But the echoing refrain for me is that the chaos has begun. In the near future, I'll be asked to drop a few more things, though I think it will be less in the way of physical baggage and more conceptual, more like disruptions of my routines.

My point here is that God speaks to His Covenant people in various ways. He never leaves us without some sense of guidance about His work. I'm not sure how useful you'll find my description of my vision here, but it's useful to me and a few folks close to me. How He works with you will be consistent with who you are in Him. Don't ask for somebody else's gifts. Ask that He reveal Himself to you personally. At the bare minimum, you need a sense of conviction, a sense of driving necessity about the things He wants from you. Whatever else He might do to liven things up is another question.

You'll never know until you ask.
