Before we move into a Christian Law review of the Book of Revelation, I felt burdened to address something that's been boiling away in the background.
Once more: The Covenant is everything. In order to understand God and His revelation, we must keep in place a matrix of understanding that corresponds as closely as possible to how God revealed Himself. It's not a question of getting it precisely correct; that's simply not possible. Rather, it's the frame of reference that matters. Our God portrays Himself as a Bronze Age near eastern potentate, a nomadic shepherd lord.
We are called into His household as adopted family, and we must conform to His wishes. He expresses Himself in mysticism. You cannot know Him rationally; it must be personal. It is our duty to maintain an orientation on His personal wishes. He granted us a covenant, but the substance and content of that covenant is His Son. It's not ideas and commands, but it's a personal example. Jesus is the Law of the Covenant. Any noise I make about Christian Law is just interpretive, and not actually binding on you, unless His Spirit makes it so. It's about Him, not us and our ideas.
Everything outside of that covenant is under Satan's control. We just read that from John's writing. That's what "the world" means: outside of His Covenant. Inside His Covenant, the Devil cannot touch us, as John also says. The Covenant is portrayed as a massive camp. Yes, it would be easy to get lost in the details about holding territory for the sheep that graze without actually setting up clear borders, but that would be intentionally missing the point.
Wherever our Lord's authority stands, that is our temporary home on this earth. Granted, He could assert that control over the whole of Creation, never mind this world. However, He has made it clear that He will no longer support a physical or geographic domain in this world. His authority is moral and relational, not physical. His domain is anywhere people live by His Covenant. We are the ones who win the territory of our lives in His name. That territory is not literal, but is the space in our hearts and in our living. It is an empire of hearts, not geographical space. His authority stands within souls that have made a feudal submission to Him; it's wherever you obey Him.
Outside of our personal commitments, the Lord has turned things over to Satan, His Left Hand.
Yes, the current oppressive threat to humanity is purely political, adhering to an ideology rather like a cult. That ideology calls for them to seize control over every detail of mass human existence. Along the way, their ideology demands that some 90% of humans on this planet must die, and the quicker, the better. This is not religious persecution; they are not attacking our faith. They are attacking the whole human race, of which we Covenant people are just a tiny portion.
Why do we not ally ourselves with outsiders to throw off this pestilent government? Because people outside the Covenant will not do it God's way. They will drag us into their evil worldly ideology, targeting the wrong people and in general going about the whole war contrary to the Covenant. To join with anyone outside the Covenant means putting your hand to evil, compromising your covenant peace with God.
There are precious few of us even claiming to be under the Covenant. Together we do not even make up a company of troops, much less an army. We could not possibly organize in any useful fashion to make war on the human enemy that is killing just about everyone on earth. We are at war, but we must engage the battle in ways that are available to us. That's part of the Covenant.
Our warfare is for the glory of our Lord. Any actual physical combat must reflect that commitment. You, as an individual member of this covenant community scattered around the world, must discern for yourself what will bring Him glory in your actions. Some of us will likely be forced to engage in physical violence. That's the nature of things. But for the most part, our actions will be aimed at exposing the evil. Speak the truth, brothers and sisters.
This blog has already identified the source of that evil. Now we need to invest our energies in understand how that evil works. How do Satan's minions organize, and what are their methods and the tactics as they attack humanity? What are they trying to do to herd us into the slaughter pens? That's what we must attack. Expose it, because it's not so much the physical threat, as it is the way they try to get us to cooperate in our own slaughter. By whatever means you communicate with other humans, declare God's truth about these things.
If you are silly enough to imagine that the political process will work, you would have no use for this blog. Covenant warfare does not use political leverage, and we have no economic leverage. We use information; it's a social leverage. For the time being, the Internet remains the enemy's greatest vulnerability. We can loudly declare on the Net what evil is happening, and something of how to face it. That weapon will be taken away soon, so we need to consider even now how to proceed without it.
But the biggest thing is the spiritual warfare. There is nothing our enemies can do about that. When we pray, God moves. That's His promise. There's a lot more to it, but as a general statement, it is true. And as we discuss amongst ourselves, we can unify our prayer so that we all share in the blessings that will surely be poured out on our prayers.
We are not of this world, but we are in it for His glory.
