Faith and Religion

20 September 2023

For all my blather here about getting the right understanding of the Bible, I can tell you that it won't change your eternal destiny. All it does is help you get the most out of your life here. Orthodoxy will not save your soul. If anything, it's more the reverse: Spiritual birth puts you in a better position to find a good orthodoxy. Without election, you cannot possibly grasp what God has actually said.

Look up Titus Morris, the preacher who lives off grid and typically goes barefoot. He's been in the news. He's featured in several YouTube videos. You will realize rather quickly that the content of his religion shares very little with mine. That's okay. You'll also realize his faith -- his commitment to Christ -- is very much like mine. I'm really impressed.

What we do in Radix Fidem was never meant to be universal. So far as I can tell, there are less than 100 people who claim to be a part of our faith community. There simply are not that many people called to our path. We knew that before we decided to share it online.

There are an awful lot of people out there with laudable faith in Christ, people who have never heard of us nor our message. There's an awful lot out there faking it, too. Some of the craziest departures from the ancient biblical faith come from people who were very much into religion, but apparently had no real faith. Being mainstream is not what makes them fake, just misguided. What makes them fake is a lack of faith that drives them. Until we start dealing directly in people's lives, it's often impossible to know.

The only thing that matters is whether you are walking by your own convictions. I'm pretty sure Titus Morris is doing that. We need a lot more of that. It's the foundation of everything. We can talk about the rest of it later, but that one thing is utterly necessary first.

A basic principle of Radix Fidem is that your religion is how you express your faith. You change your religion when your convictions demand it. Compare notes, for sure, but don't swallow someone else's religion, including mine.

Fun and Prophet

I enjoyed the very simple experience, without journalistic comment, of a video entitled "He shall be like a tree scripture song." Apparently one of the men is Titus.
