Join in the Song

22 October 2023

This is one of those rare instances when I need some graphical support for what I want to teach. I want to transport you there for the moment.

Place of Prayer

It's a decent high hill. The wind is rather steady, not enough to push you around, but enough to make a soughing sound in your ears. The grass at your feat is a short prairie mixture. This time of year, very few stalks touch even as high as your knees. It's just cool enough that biting insects are staying in the ground. There is no significant sound of other human presence. You are alone with God. You begin to pray, calling out to the Lord audibly. The whole place worships with you.

Indeed you will go out with joy;
you will be led along in peace;
the mountains and hills will give a joyful shout before you,
and all the trees in the field will clap their hands. (Isaiah 55:12 NET)

How literally do you take that verse? I believe a very literal reading is intended. I take very seriously the idea that the natural world around us communicates on the wavelength of the heart, not the head. It's not just dramatic poetry. And I'm not kidding when I suggest that the wind in the grass calls out in song to the Creator. The very ground beneath my feet was encouraging me.

In moments like this, you must turn inward. You must learn to still the fleshly nature and give your heart prominence. The hardest thing for people to understand is that the communications from nature register in the same part of you as your imagination. It's the same equipment. This is not a joke. At some point, you can begin to discern the source of such things, whether it be just your flesh acting silly, or your heart catching a vision that takes you outside of the flesh.

If other humans intrude on the moment, it's very nearly impossible to deny the flesh that way. If they aren't operating on the same wavelength of the heart, it will hinder the moment. It's not a question of getting data from God. It's all about communion and comfort on a much higher level.

If you need lots of links and research, then you aren't ready to hear this. However, I'll tell you that scientific testing of humans can detect an electromagnetic resonance from your literal heart in your chest, and it's a different wavelength from your brainwaves. Furthermore, the heart generates a sensory field that extends outward in a sort of bulging torus that reaches ten or fifteen feet before the instruments can't detect it any more. Furthermore, it measurably interacts with living plants and animals in ways that no measuring can understand, only that it does.

Too bad that it's all behind paywalls these days. You might be able to get your hands on it. I managed to grab copies some years ago, though I probably can't find them now. Most of what you can get easily is the junk version of that research. There are lots of New Age books based on it. This is a normal human capability God gave us. It's not forbidden, but the abuse of this power is. It's been hidden from God's people by materialism.

The western people who use this scientific research don't understand it very well, either. They come up with all kinds of bogus stuff, trying to sell their ideas and make a buck. It's all built into the human fleshly nature, so anyone can take advantage of it. The folks in the Ancient Near East studied it a great deal. How do you suppose the magicians in Pharaoh's court were able to oppose Moses and Aaron? Genuine pagans understand this interaction between humans and nature on the wavelength of the heart. It's not dangerous; it's in the Bible in passages like the one cited above. It's meant to be used for Jehovah's glory.

I can tell you from experience that we who use it as God intended will likely find some elements of the natural world will speak more loudly than others. It's a mark of our individual calling in Christ. The same goes for the natural elements themselves. If you live in an area with lots of natural stone, you'll find the rocks speak very slowly. Be ready for long pauses, and terse communications. It's still meaningful to your heart, if you can hear it. And yes, they do respond in conversation. Trees do, as well, though they tend to be reticent when their energies are distracted by the work of the green season. Trees are more chatty in cooler weather. And even domesticated animals can tell the difference between people of the heart and those who live in their heads.

If you get into this heart-mode often enough in a natural setting, you'll find mobile creatures start hanging around a lot. Birds, butterflies, other small creatures -- if you are sincerely worshiping the Lord, they want in on it. Remember, Creation is not fallen; we are.

Let me encourage you to just get out and experiment with it. Learn how to elevate your awareness into your heart; climb above your intellect. Close your eyes if you need to. Learn to hear the earth singing His praise. Join in that song. It will change everything.
