Passing Over Again

13 December 2023

I believe that God would be willing to shield us from the worst sorrows of apocalypse if we take seriously His promises.

Obviously, I cannot mean that we must come together in one place. That's not possible. What I mean is that, if you and I truly surrender to this Covenant path, we will be one community in His Spirit. And because of that, we can begin to claim all the marvelous things He did with Israel. According to Scripture, we are the New Israel. If we claim the mission they rejected, of demonstrating divine revelation by how we live it, all the mighty acts of power He did for them will be ours.

I am willing to stand before the Lord and ask for deliverance from the worst of what mankind can do to itself. I am ready to call on His name and ask for safety in the midst of whatever natural disasters are coming to Earth in the next two decades, and after. I can believe that He would supply us with some means equivalent to Noah's Ark in terms of effects.

And you don't have to follow my lead. It would work better if you don't. You should be prompted by my blather to seek His face the way I do, and study His Word, and then seek your own convictions to know what He calls you to do for His glory. Our teaching has no catechism and no orthodoxy. Everything I write is just a suggestion, pointing to something I believe you should explore for yourself. Keep only what works for you.

I've seen a vision of this teaching spread. Not through my writing, nor my talking, but it's something that falls from Heaven into souls. It's not the results of what I suggest that matters; it's the radical openness to His voice calling us to things others will not hear.

That's what I'm praying the Lord will do. The starting point is seeking His face, hoping to hear from Him some condemnation on my flaws in a way I can understand. I want Him to rip my life to shreds, turn it all upside down, whatever it takes to shed the junk He didn't put there. And then, I'm hoping to find others who sense that same calling, that same determination to sacrifice everything at His whim. Those will be my family. We can mark our human existence by His blood sacrifice, His power raised to new life in us.

And we can be a family that the Lord passes over the next time He brings wrath on human sin.

re: "the junk He didn't put there"

Wary of much more study, I'm wondering just what volume of the vast accretion of assumptions in interpretive writings since Jesus spoke directly to the people, is also collective misdirectional crowd-management junk. At this point more barnacle than Ark.

"Seeking His face, hoping to hear" seems the best hope for actual truth and refuge now, handhold-by-handhold letting loose of personal history, eager collusion, self-reinforcing reflexes, and churchy formulas regarding which It Ain't Necessarily So.

Otherwise, I'm like Nighttime Nicodemus in John 3: "How? But HOW??!!"

Mary Geegh's little book, God Guides, is inspiring. So is The Grand Inquisitor vision of Dostoevsky.

Yes, Ma'am. If we can just get people into the grip of genuine faith, everything else takes care of itself. I recall reading The Grand Inquisitor. I'll have to look up that other book.

Jay DiNitto

I remember reading Inquisitor as well. I'm not a fan of much of Dostoyevsky's writing but I remember liking that one.
