The main reason for this blog is that nobody else is saying what I feel compelled to say.
I've written in so many words that Jews are just about the single biggest threat to the rest of the human race. They are Satan's preferred weapon. We can pick out names and dates for certain key figures working in various areas of life in the West, but it's well nigh impossible to pick out the names of who among the Jews might lead this agenda. Rather, it makes a lot more sense to understand it as something organic to the Jewish identity, an ethnic urge built into their entire orientation on life. Some rise to take leading roles, but most don't. Yet, somewhere within their character and personality is a fierce commitment that flavors everything they do. It's simply a question of who they are as Jews. They regard themselves as uniquely superior to the rest of us, and it's their destiny to rule the world.
Well, they can have it.
For you are all sons and daughters of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise. (Galatians 3:26-29 NASB 1977)
When I use the phrase "my people" it refers to Covenant believers only. That excludes an awful lot of people who claim to be Christian, because they don't consciously embrace the Covenant boundaries that were laid down by Christ. If I exclude all those millions of non-covenant Christians, you can bet I exclude everyone else on any other grounds.
The Covenant identity is rooted in Heaven, not in this world. In order to enter the Covenant, you must renounce all other human identities. It's not a question of whether your flesh can lose its DNA, but that it no longer figures into your allegiances. In Christ, your only allegiance is the risen Savior, and through Him, the Father. He is Your Lord and Master; you are His feudal vassal, His whole personal possession. Nothing else about your human existence matters.
At the same time, there is no distinctly covenant culture or ethnic identity on a human level. The Cross of Christ pushes all of that aside. It still attaches to your fleshly existence, so that what you eat and wear may not change much, and certainly not the language you speak. But your flesh now belongs to Jesus and He gets to dictate the changes at His whim. The variability is the trademark. Your "ethnic identity" is not having one, because you must follow that individual path of conviction in order to please your Master. Your convictions are where He speaks most loudly.
And you'll get some things wrong, so you'll have to change it later. That's part of the Covenant. Then again, other changes will come simply because it's our Lord's time for them. At least some elements of your life will seem variable to anyone who hangs around long enough to notice. The identity is that you are subject to His command on everything, and you'll spend the rest of your life always asking if He is pleased with your devotion to Him. "What else can I do for You, Lord?"
This applies to Jews who embrace their Messiah. They stop being Jews in their hearts, in the sense that it no longer matters. Their Jewish background will most certainly flavor their earthly lives within the Covenant of Christ, but all of it is up for grabs and they should know that. It took a while for Peter to get that message, but he got it. Paul was wired differently, and understood it immediately upon conversion. But they both eventually came to the same place on that issue, so that Paul's statement in Galatians quoted above is definitive. Everything belonging to the flesh is subject to change at the Lord's whim.
Some of it is well established in the Word; it applies to all of us. The only question, then, is what to make of what it says. That's where your convictions come into the picture. And you must learn to recognize that your convictions don't constrain others. It's all voluntary and peaceful. You draw lines in the sand, which are likely to be blown or washed away in the next few minutes. Or they may harden into rock. You never know, but are prepared to act with full humility on what the Lord says to you.
And as Paul makes quite clear in that next chapter of Galatians, claiming Abraham as our ancestor is not a matter of DNA, but of total submission to the Creator of all things. It's in your spiritual DNA. The promise was brought through the Messiah, and He is open to all who come.
