Let's take a break from Pageau; I've been asked to share a few things.
I made a prayer request some months ago about getting an RV. Drop that. The prayer has been answered, and it's "no". What's coming our way won't be that kind of apocalypse. I'm now praying for some kind of station wagon or SUV. I've been nudged in my convictions to expect that cycling will be a supportive transportation means, but not the central one. Where I live, petroleum products will likely remain available in abundance.
By no means have I lost the sense of urgency about preparing to keep our witness alive in a time of tribulation. As long as I can keep sharing important stuff here, I'll do it. But that will end someday, and I think it's highly likely during this calendar year, at least temporarily. This blog post reflects my own thinking. My convictions say we should hoard a bit of cash currency and other ways to work around a bank holiday.
I still insist that, for most of us, the biggest threat of violence will be common property crimes. The fighting between states and federal authority may turn violent, but it won't be a massive occupation. That would last less than a week if they tried it. The primary reason you need self-defense is that there are way too many people out there willing to raid others to cover their ignorance and lack of planning. It will include both random individuals and organized crime. The organization for it already exists, but they will react to the general desperation and ramp up their activities when things get ugly.
So, a major focus is to counter-organize. Think and plan toward a form of community crime prevention wherever you are and with whomever lives around you. For myself, I'm doing what I can to establish my presence as a force for order and security. I want my neighbors to have a reflex for trusting me that way. I have no faith in the old "Neighborhood Watch" organizations, but the basic concept is a good idea. You don't have to actually become friends, just be friendly. This should be a major hallmark of Covenant People everywhere.
Those of you interested in joining together with other covenant-minded folks, such as the people who support this blog, I highly recommend you consider joining our Radix Fidem community Sunday Skype meetings. For the time being, it's very informal; we will certainly discuss critical faith issues anyone raises, but it's mostly about getting to know people we will likely never meet face to face. There's something miraculous in simply spending time chatting about anything at all. The Lord speaks through personal interactions that way. It adds to our spiritual treasury against difficult times, which are coming all too soon.
If you find yourself willing to at least try it, the Skype meetings don't even require you to install the Skype software. A link is posted each week on the forum by our host. The start time has been 2 PM Eastern Time, so far. Once our host activates the session, just click that link and most browsers should open up a proper Skype session. You'll need to use a device with a functioning camera and microphone. I do it on my iPad; some use Android tablets or cellphones. We'll make sure the links are accessible even without a forum account. I'll probably link it here on this blog just to make sure readers can find it.
Again, I cannot overstress how this kind of thing feeds into our spiritual preparation for the apocalypse coming our way. Spiritual fellowship implants things in your soul that you may not feel until some key moment when you face a tests, and suddenly find you have the means. Yes, it's miraculous, and it's very real.
Yes, my face shows up in those fellowship meetings.

I second the Skype meetings. We are an okay bunch, I think.
