Marriage Apocalypse 03

25 May 2024

A critical part of this blog, in all its previous manifestations, has always been the drive to develop independence from it -- i.e., to help people not depend on it. As previously stated, I'm trying to work myself out of a mission. I would rather see people break off when they get enough of this ministry and follow their own convictions.

I don't want clones of myself. I'm not a model. My faith might be a model -- that's a gift from God -- but not me. I want everyone to have the same kind of Bible scholarship as I have.

Jesus did not break away from the Old Testament social model. He did break away from the Talmudic model, but remained true to the ways of the ancient Hebrew people. A Christian marriage is very much like an Old Testament marriage.

In the Bible, women were generally restricted in their social contacts. (Look what kind of world they have built without such restrictions!) They were married off some time between 15-20 years of age to a man typically 30+. There was a good reason for men to marry that late; with the ancient Hebrew economy, it took that long to afford to provide for a family. The ideal was that his wife would regard her man as some kind of hero, and the age gap helped a lot.

A woman typically had no other expectation in life. She would marry and have children, and build a household with the aim to boost her man's social reputation. Her social standing was his. This was all part of a much bigger vision of a community that God favored, one that was stable and prosperous enough to make other nations a little envious. She was part of a much larger effort to boost God's reputation in the world.

Women didn't have ambitions. If something happened to set one loose to develop such a thing, we have a long history showing what a disaster it was. Today, we have a world in which every woman is taught to have ambition. And while this is hardly the only thing wrong, it is a very major element in God's wrath almost ready to spill out upon this country.

Nothing says men have to be ogres; the Bible is loaded with advice against it. Oppression is a sin on all scales, from nationwide down to the home. But one thing is certain: Men must rule in God's world, from the home to the imperial palace. The moment we step away from that, we are defiled, odious to our Creator.

I won't give you my vision of a community God favors; I will tell you that God requires us all to have one. You need to build a vision from within your own convictions, with your own life's context. Keep in mind the prophetic warnings that God's wrath is coming on America. Be ready for anything.

"Oppression is a sin on all scales, from nationwide down to the home."

It's a shame words like "oppression" or other terms have been loaded up with false western ideas about what constitutes justice. Right now it seems "oppression" just means people not getting the expected free stuff.
