I hope by now it's obvious that there are a lot of things we cannot pretend to nail down for those following the Radix Fidem path.
On the one hand, the Law of Christ is pretty obvious. At His Last Seder He said that we should love each other as He does. A short time later He hoisted the Cross. It's not the action so much as its meaning. The particular sacrifices we each make for our covenant family will vary with calling, mission and context.
At the same time, following Christ means we have to be aware of the large amount of teaching that carries over from Moses and Noah. That's part of the sacrifice He made that we must also make, part of the same privilege we must inherit.
Just this much is a monumental task of explanation. We have to build a lore of Hebraic thinking that is stripped of unnecessary cultural and religious requirements. There is an awful lot that is just a matter of convictions that must of necessity vary with the individual, and it is simply wrong to make one person's convictions rule others. We have done so little with this that we don't yet have a handle on what should remain a matter of conviction against what is so disruptive that we have to ask you to take it somewhere else.
Where are the boundary lines for a Hebraic orientation that serves as a common model? It's all we can do to convince just a few folks here there that this is worth pursuing individually. We don't have any actual covenant bodies anywhere. All we have are vague ideas about what we should do and some experience on things we should not do. How do you make sage wisdom a part of the fundamental teachings that give Radix Fidem its identity?
The purpose of this blog is to press for a somewhat academic discussion. I seriously doubt I will personally be around to see any congregations big enough to start seeking the Lord on policy matters. I'm quite certain younger generations will be called on to bear that heavy burden.
Furthermore, there's a very high probability that global natural disasters will overtake us all too soon. There's a limited window of opportunity here to study and give shape to what the Lord has called us to before the magnetic poles shift and humanity descends into chaos. How much does the Lord plan for this work before that disaster comes?
For the past few years, our whole focus was just getting the ideas established for individuals to embrace. I'm not the only one who senses that growing into communities is somewhere close on the horizon. All we have are just a few tentative ideas; we would be fools to mandate too much too soon. By the same token, it serves no one to ignore the questions of what this should look like when it becomes a community somewhere.
Pray with us. We need to have a firm grasp on the Holy Spirit's guidance on this soon.
