Hang in There

09 October 2024

If you've been following our exploration of Hebrew thinking, by now you should realize that nitpicking precision was never the point in prophecy. The point was calling people into repentance and proper covenant submission to God. Even when Jonah went to Ninevah, he didn't demand they convert to the Covenant of Moses. Rather, he addressed them under the Covenant of Noah.

The biggest problem we have is that God still calls prophets, even when they have no solid background in Hebrew covenant thinking. They'll get the message, but they may not understand it too well. Still, the underlying message of repentance is good enough for God's purpose. Over the years I've encountered a few who were obviously called but they lacked that Hebrew perspective. They had visions and impressions that were wholly symbolic, but these prophets failed to grasp that. Instead they shared them as more or less literal. They predicted things that may or may not have come true, but missed the point that these were warnings to turn back to faith in Christ.

Among those I believe are called, it seems unanimous right now that we are on the brink of war and disasters. That much should be obvious. The only question is whether we will go to war primarily with Russia or Iran.

The US government is not unified on this question. In general, you know that Republicans favor war on behalf of Israel (against Iran, et al.) while the Democrats would prefer to fight Russia on behalf of Ukraine. Both are also thinking about fighting China later. But not every agency in the government is on board with either side. Some of them are pursuing their own agenda while pretending to respond to elected leadership. Various parties are, at times, actively undermining each other.

There are no good guys. I'm sure you know that Netanyahu believes he rules the US, or at least that his policies take precedence over anything else. He keeps in touch with various figures in our government and is always estimating when is the best time to strike Iran and drag the US into war. Zelinsky at least knows better, but he uses the same manipulations to grab a bigger slice of the pie. He's already tried to provoke Russia so that she would respond in ways that would trigger NATO involvement.

There's no telling which or when it will happen, but it's hard to imagine it won't be one or the other and soon. The constant refrain of prophecy in the Bible and up through our times is that folks under God's wrath won't see it coming.

There are some things I want you to not worry about. Best I can tell, neither China nor Russia are interested in invading the US. There are Chinese and Russian agents in the US, of course, seeking tactical and economic advantage, but not colonization. Latin America is colonizing right now. A bigger threat is the Islamic terrorist agents already here. They aren't trying to invade en masse so much as just terrorize. They are invading certain areas and will enforce Sharia Law later, but the short-term threat is simple acts of terror.

The real problem with Islamic terror is that it is guided by our own CIA (along with Mossad and others). You probably know that ISIS is their baby, as was al-Qaeda, and several other organizations before them. This particular problem is technically an inside job. These vary between comically incompetent to some who have accomplished major terror, but too often patsies are blamed.

The CIA is also somewhat involved in the Latino drug gangs. These thugs are here because they had a lot of help. It used to be covert, but now it's official policy. On these things, there is now no turning it around. These projects are too far along and will have their effects, whatever that may be.

For most of us, the immediate threat is simply rising crime. Should we live in places where natural disasters are likely, crime will exacerbate everything. Meanwhile, the federal government is bleeding tax funds at an unconscionable rate. This will crimp the budgets of most state and local governments as time goes on. Governments will stop providing services, but will probably prevent anyone else doing them, as well.

As one writer had it 25 years ago: The plan is to pin you to the ground so the government officials can rape you at their convenience, but they won't guard you against privateers doing some raping, as well. Your only hope is decentralization of government.

Meanwhile, those of us under the Covenant will see the hand of God mitigating all threats. Hang in there. Trust Him.
