Intellect is not evil; it is flesh. That is, it is vulnerable and requires a strong moral awareness in the heart. Your sense of moral conviction resides on a higher level of awareness than your intellect. If your mind rules over your heart, then the latter becomes polluted and perverted. The vulnerability of the flesh can thus invade the heart and cause it to lose direction.
The heart is not mere sentiment or emotion. This is a lie so fundamental to Western Civilization that most westerners cannot even imagine the heart being superior to the mind. In the West, there is nothing superior to the intellect. It is exceedingly hard for westerners to develop a reliance on their hearts and to let them rule on moral issues. It's why so few people can consistently walk in their own convictions -- they keep deferring to their morally flawed intellects.
Oddly enough, a truly well developed intellect knows better than to do this. It is actually a weak intellect that demands superiority, generally out of fear of losing control. Keep a clear picture here: The emotions are always there and always assert their wishes. No one can possibly squelch them; this is a myth. You cannot become so rational as to be objective about everything. That false perception in itself arises from emotions. That myth allows the emotions to assert their influence unseen, unconsciously.
The false imagery of the West leaves westerners at high risk of manipulation. Do you realize that the full fruit of western arrogance regarding reason and materialism inevitably leads to general stupidity in the population? The rise of AI is the direct result of materialism and reason seeking ever greater convenience and ease for the flesh. An increased reliance on AI leaves a population unable to think clearly enough to write.
The reason so many people have trouble writing is that it's fundamentally difficult. To write well you have to think clearly, and thinking clearly is hard.
And yet writing pervades many jobs, and the more prestigious the job, the more writing it tends to require.
These two powerful opposing forces, the pervasive expectation of writing and the irreducible difficulty of doing it, create enormous pressure. This is why eminent professors often turn out to have resorted to plagiarism. The most striking thing to me about these cases is the pettiness of the thefts. The stuff they steal is usually the most mundane boilerplate -- the sort of thing that anyone who was even halfway decent at writing could turn out with no effort at all. Which means they're not even halfway decent at writing.
Till recently there was no convenient escape valve for the pressure created by these opposing forces. You could pay someone to write for you, like JFK, or plagiarize, like MLK, but if you couldn't buy or steal words, you had to write them yourself. And as a result nearly everyone who was expected to write had to learn how.
Not anymore. AI has blown this world open. Almost all pressure to write has dissipated. You can have AI do it for you, both in school and at work. The result will be a world divided into writes and write-nots... [T]he middle ground between those who are good at writing and those who can't write at all will disappear.
I haven't forgotten that "writing" as a mechanical skill was rare in ancient times. That's not what the author refers to; it's composition. The issue is thinking clearly enough to compose words for communication. In other words, speaking effectively is very important, something that has already disappeared in the West. Even polite conversation is considered a rare art these days, restricted to the elite. Writing is the last bastion of common intelligence in the West. Once that fades, the masses will have been reduced to worker ants.
While the ruling class as a whole may not have this as a conscious goal, you can bet there are some who are quite aware of this effect and are promoting it by design. Making people less conscious and aware is part of what keeps them easy to rule. Dehumanizing the population has long been a faith commitment of those who serve the Devil. If you cannot think clearly, if there is nothing in your head to submit to your heart's moral authority, then you cannot communicate the gospel.
