Contemplate the implications of the Three Rebellions. I believe in the Unseen Realm as a broad thesis. It is biblical and my convictions witness to it. I cannot avoid living accordingly.
On the one hand, we are unable to comprehend Eternity. On the other hand, we can just barely recognize some of what it is not. We may not understand existence without time/space constraints, but we do know that our sense of historical sequence cannot be applied to what happens in Heaven. All we have left is some vague sense of logical sequence that helps us understand our role.
God created everything; He rules His own property. Our best understanding via the symbolic revelations in the Bible indicate that God established Himself as Sheikh with all the trappings we would expect from that. His residence is like a temple; He has a huge staff of servants, playing various roles with varying degrees of loyalty. Everything is based on delegated authority. The most powerful creatures are His council of advisors. Their actual roles and authority exceed the parables and our imagination, but it's all we have.
Somewhere in this story is the creation of a private garden. God staffed this garden with a unique creature that shared some of the privileges of the rest of God's staff and were obliged to give obeisance and glory to God. As with everything else, this tribute was transmitted through God's staff for presentation before His throne.
God also had a bodyguard of troops, and the chief of that bunch failed Him at some point. The action in dispute, we are told, is that the Chief of the Guards embezzled worship and glory offered as tribute to God. From the hints in Scripture and supporting sources, we know that God holds this Chief Guard, Lucifer, in jail here in our time/space reality. We can assume Lucifer filed a grievance, offering an argument that this was not just. He was a "son of God" (elohim). God is playing along with this scenario for His own reasons. The Devil is still confined to the Abyss, but he is allowed to present his case.
While we cannot discern the connection with any precision, we know that our existence as humans is tied up in this fundamental dispute. The Devil's objections are supported by some of God's councilors (also elohim). This became a sort of political alliance. As part of this, we are told that Satan decided he should destroy the humans God made to manage His garden. We can estimate the motives via symbolism -- Lucifer sees us the source of his troubles. Did we not exist and worship God, he would not be in jail. Thus, he must maneuver God into delivering humans into his power. Satan and his allies committed three acts of rebellion to invoke God's wrath on us. For this to work, we must voluntarily play along.
The actions now enter into the space/time continuum, because that's where Lucifer stands while engaging in his rebellion. First was the Fall in the Garden. In this, Lucifer convinced us to accept his offer to make us his subjects in exchange for a measure of freedom. It was all a lie, of course, but it was effective in seducing humans away from their divinely appointed role. Thus, we were forced out of the Garden and joined Lucifer in his realm.
This not sufficient to explain the whole of our sad human condition. There was another rebellion: Some of Satan's allies on God's staff came down to the lower realm where humans were now captive and seduced them further so that superhuman hybrid creatures were born to lead humans into foul depravity. These were the Nephilim, who taught humans all the secrets of power inherent in God's Creation, but without the guidance and moral wisdom of God's will. Thus, minus moral redemption, humans used these powers in service to their fallen mortal lusts. The corruption was so pervasive that God ordered up the Flood of Noah. A major element in this was to assure the death of the Nephilim.
However, neither the elohim staff members who came down, nor the Nephilim spirits, we allowed to return to their natural abode of eternal creatures. Instead, they remained confined to the Abyss. After the Flood, some of the Nephilim managed to reincarnate in superhuman bodies again, at least for a while. They led the humans to build the Tower of Babel. It was a one-world government that threatened to rebuild and even institutionalize the same corruption that justified the Flood. This time, God commanded His council to take charge of the various nations gathered in Babel and required them to disperse and form a wide variety of cultures. We have no idea why, but most of God's councilors, having accepted Lucifer's argument that they were elohim who warranted human worship, rebelled in teaching their human charges to worship them instead of God. They recreated the corruption in a different way.
Thus, the Three Rebellions. God raised up His own nation as part of a plan to offer His Gardeners redemption from this self-destructive slavery, and it addressed all three rebellions. However, He kept part of His plans secret from His staff. Only His Son knew about it, because it involved sending His Son down to the human world to undo all the works of Satan and his allies. Election is a critical part of His plan.
Everything you see around you in the world today is part of this eternal drama of God justifying His decision to punish Lucifer and his allies. In the end, He will redeem His Elect Gardeners and they will supplant the Divine Council, while the rebels will be destroyed as if they were mortals. Contemplate what this all says about our existence as humans.
