Having said all that, there remains an outside chance of far more devastating events. There are two that I am aware of: (1) nuclear war and (2) systemic failure of the electrical grid.
I've stated my belief that Satan rules fallen mankind outside the Covenant. That's the majority of all humans on the planet, and it is for sure every human government. We can identify Satan's servants and a portion of what roles they play. Without wasting space here chasing down all the details again, the neocons are the ultimate threat to humans, but they don't try to control everything, only the issues they care about. They were once part of the globalists but pulled out for reasons that aren't obvious, and switched over to hijack the conservative political establishment. They are still globalist, just not obviously so. They use the conservative political traditions as cover. They are in a position to steer the globalists for the issues that matter to them.
The globalists are a really mixed bunch, having hijacked all lefties. The whole idea is to harness idealists and their activist energy for somewhat hidden goals. It's hard to be sure who is really pulling the strings; we can peg only some portion of the true leadership. We can't really know just how determined they are to achieve their stated goals, and how much of that is just role-playing.
There is some hope that saner heads realize that Ukraine is a lost cause. Still, if certain figures push ahead with what they claim are their goals in Ukraine, our country will be at war with Russia. Our government has no valid goals at all, beyond a bloodthirsty hatred for anyone that does not bow the knee to the globalist agenda. It is not life and death for us, but it is for Russia. At least some of the globalists in our government are genuinely stupid enough to push the button and use weapons of mass destruction. If not over Ukraine, it will be something else, or perhaps targeting China. It's not a question of who will win; the destruction would be unimaginable on both sides.
We have only the most primitive estimates of what would follow such a scenario. What little we think we know is speculative. When the moment comes, no one can say what will be hit and what will be left. The neocons appear to believe they can survive this in the various government bunkers prepared for the purpose.
The second issue is the probability of an early solar disaster leading up to the micronova. The experts suggest that we have a 25% chance of facing a CME/solar flare big enough to take out the electrical grid during this or the next solar maximum cycle (either the next couple of years, or about ten years down the road).
Can you picture a collapse of all electrical supply? It would be like shifting suddenly back to the mid-1800s, but with none of the right equipment on hand. Nothing that transmits electricity will exist; it will be burned up. As quickly as you can build it, all you'll have is muscle power, wind, hydro-mechanical, and steam-powered stuff for transport and manufacturing. Even if you are determined to rebuild the electricity grid, it will take years.
All communications will stop; banking and money transfers will cease to exist. Unless someone somewhere has a paper register of your accounts, they will simply evaporate. Everyone will be in the same position, so giving you an electronic paycheck will not happen, either. It will all have to be rebuilt using older technology. Do we have that much paper on hand? Because getting more paper will take a long while rebuilding technology from two centuries ago.
A related concern to both nuclear war or the loss of the electrical grid would be any number of half-measures that would cause the Internet to disappear, among other things. That by itself would shatter civilization as we know it. We have a whole generation that cannot even think without it. It's not that humans cannot adapt, but some worry that they simply won't. Whole civilizations have disappeared in history, and there is no sign that the people survived long after collapse.
We do have some limited knowledge on how to prepare for this kind of stuff, but almost nobody can afford it. And then there's the question of how those survivors will face the longer term threat of solar catastrophes headed our way. Some of it overlaps, but not everything.
When it boils down to it, for people of covenant faith, the issue is not surviving, but testifying. Live or die, what we have left right now must glorify Jesus. I still maintain that this is not The End; too much is missing from the biblical image of that. It's quite likely that some portion of humanity will survive to face a world after the micronova. Insofar as it lies in our hands, the testimony of our Lord must survive, as well.
It's hard to imagine you would claim to walk in faith and not already know that God will not allow His revelation to be absent from this world. All the more so with what amounts to a very heavy investment in the revelation of His Son. Regardless of the circumstances, our sole reason for being alive is to glorify Him.
I'm not in a position to plan for a nuclear war, and can mount only a very small amount of preparation for a failure of the electrical grid. My time in the military helps with the latter. I can certainly live without the Internet; I was an adult when it first became accessible to the public. Thus, I'm near the end of my life in the first place, and I have zero expectation of surviving a micronova. I'm investing more effort in preparing to go Home.
You'll have to decide for yourself what God wants you to do. I'm convinced the best I can do is help build faith via a restoration of the Covenant. All the good that God can offer in this life is in the Covenant, and that means a habit of hearing from our convictions. Such truth will surely outlive me.
